About Ranya Kamel

As a Muslim, I know how difficult it is to find care that both centers the Islamic worldview and addresses the challenges of living in the modern Western world. You shouldn't have to compromise being understood in order to get the care you need. My experiences training in and working with the Muslim community has helped me understand and attune to the specific needs of the Muslim American experience. As a Muslim woman, I know the challenges that come with seeking to feel seen and heard and I know that to understand ourselves fully, we must align to an Islamic paradigm that acknowledges the spiritual aspect of our being.

My approach is psychodynamic which entails a commitment to curiosity and a deep exploration of the self so that you can understand why you are the way you are and use that insight to choose new ways of being. I also incorporate mindfulness practice to help you tune into your body and bridge the mind-body experiences. My approach is collaborative, and is informed by an understanding that wellness is holistic and must encompass all aspects of our being: physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual.

All of us have a unique story waiting to be told. In therapy, we'll identify your goals and strengths and through curious exploration, expand insight so that you can feel empowered to be the author of your own narrative. My aim is to create a space of openness and warmth and would be honored to accompany you on your journey of growth and healing.
