Registered Psychotherapist (RP)
Associate Therapist at
ReNu Counselling & Psychotherapy
Toronto, Ontario, M5M 1C7
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) currently working as an associate therapist at ReNu Counselling and Psychotherapy. I hold a Masters of Art in Counselling Psychology (MACP) degree from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Science from the university of Toronto.
My interest in the mental health field is greatly linked with my upbringing and the experiences attached to it. Growing up in Somaliland and Ethiopia, there was not much attention given to mental health. It is why I decided to make one of my majors in university Mental Health studies, started volunteering for and working with organizations such as Somaliland mental health and Geneva Autism Center and delved deeper into this field to get more acquainted with it. Now, I am certain that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
I am someone who has lived in many different countries including Ethiopia, Somaliland, Malaysia, and Canada, and thus understands that culture plays an important role in shaping our worldviews and perspectives. I am thus more than happy to work with people from different cultures and background and provide everyone I work with a safe, supportive, and judgement-free environment to express themselves. I also believe in a goal-oriented and person-centered approach to therapy and hope to learn as much as possible from every interaction I have.
