Ibrahim is a Registered Psychotherapist regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). He is also an Associate Member with the Canadian Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).
Ibrahim holds a Master of Pastoral Studies with a focus on Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy from the University of Toronto. He is also an alumni of Yorkville University’s Master of Art in Counselling Psychology program. Additionally, Ibrahim holds post-graduate certification and experiential training in spiritually integrative psychotherapy from the Toronto Center for Psychotherapy and Counselling Education. Ibrahim also has a background in Islamic thought and philosophy and uses a culturally sensitive approach with Muslims. Overall, Ibrahim is passionate and dedicated to the science and art of psychotherapy in ongoing learning and its application and potential in advancing awareness, healing, and empowerment.
Ibrahim uses a number of therapeutic approaches tailored to his client's unique situations. Currently he is drawn to the following types of therapies: Psychodynamic & Relational Self-Psychology, Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Experiential therapies like Internal Family Systems and Emotion-focused therapy, Cognitive & Behavioural Therapies like Dialectical Behavioural Therapy & CBT, and Trauma-informed therapies like EMDR, and lastly Existential-Humanistic therapy. He also uses Imago, Emotionally focused therapy, and Gottman therapy with couples.
Ibrahim’s approach to care is holistic by viewing individuals as ‘whole’ and not only by symptoms, while tailoring therapeutic modalities to the unique needs and challenges of individuals and couples. His approach to care is person-centered, collaborative, and relational. Ibrahim often receives feedback from his clients that he is easy to talk to and understanding. Finally, Ibrahim loves what he does, and considers it a complete honor to walk alongside others in their journeys during tough times. In addition to English, Ibrahim speaks Pashtu, Urdu, and Arabic.
