I believe that the therapeutic relationship is at the core of effective therapy. I enjoy building genuine human connections with my clients and creating a space where you can feel seen, heard and validated. I believe that authentic connections are fundamental for our mental health and general wellbeing. Together, we’ll work to create a strong therapeutic relationship that honors your unique needs and goals.
As a person of colour and immigrant, I believe that each person's unique cultural identity is an essential part of understanding them holistically, and I am committed to creating a culturally sensitive and inclusive therapeutic environment. I believe that every person has the ability to live a meaningful, authentic life and build fulfilling relationships, and I will work with you to achieve that. My approach to therapy is non-pathologising, meaning that I see my clients as whole people with strengths and resilience, rather than a collection of symptoms to be fixed.
In our sessions, we'll work together to make sense of your emotions and internal experiences. I believe that by exploring and understanding these parts of ourselves, we can create greater emotional balance and resilience. Through our work together, you can expect to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships, and your place in the world.
My approach is grounded in emotion-focused, psychodynamic, relational, and compassion-focused therapies. I am trauma-informed and see my clients from a holistic and non-pathologising lens. I recognize that our past experiences can have a significant impact on our present functioning and relationships, and I work collaboratively with my clients to explore these past experiences and their impact.
In addition to the above, I incorporate elements of internal family systems and mindfulness-based practices into my therapy sessions. I also take great care to understand the cultural identity and influences of each of my clients as I believe this is important in accurately understanding them.
Instead of adhering to a strict structure, my therapy sessions prioritize exploration and curiosity. I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and together, we will take a deep dive into your experiences and work to understand what has contributed to your current feelings and circumstances. My therapeutic style is curious, gentle, and compassionate, and I believe in the inherent goodness of each person.
My primary goal is to make you feel heard and understood. I want to help empower you to make meaningful changes to live a full and authentic life. It is my greatest honor and privilege to be let into your inner world and to help you explore, understand, and make sense of it.
