I have been working for more than a decade in the field of psychology and believe in a client-centered approach. In my years of counselling, I have worked with a diverse population but specialize in understanding the challenges of multicultural clients. An immigrant myself I have a profound understanding of the trials and tribulations of an immigrant in pursuit of a better life in Canada.
Often couples become overwhelm trying to acclimatize to the new environment while trying to maintain culture and traditions at home. Especially, raising children in two cultures and build a positive Muslim identity, it becomes a challenging task to nurture your child as they try to fit in with the streamlined culture.
Counselling is a way for families and individuals to understand the change required of them. Through counselling one can explore the right tools to lead a positive life as individuals, families and nurture relationships while still keeping their cultural values.
As a Muslim it is important to us to work with a counsellor who can apply an Islamically Integrated approach to the counselling process. As a result at present I am training to become certified as a Islamically Integrated Psychologist.
