Sarah Yousuf is a Master of Social Work student, specializing in Health and Mental Health at the University of Toronto. Prior to this, she completed a double major in Sociology and International Studies at York University. Aside from her secular studies, she has received a Ta'leem Al Quran Certificate from Al Huda Institute Canada after spending over three years studying the translation (Tafseer) of the Quran therein. Wanting to pursue her religious studies further, she moved to Egypt where she resided for close to three years studying Arabic and Islamic Studies. Her goal in therapy is to combine both the secular and religious knowledge she has acquired to create a powerful mode towards psycho-spiritual well-being in clients. She is passionate about integrating Islamic principles and teachings rooted in the Quran and Sunnah into her practice, and to provide Muslim clients with a holistic approach to healing. As someone with lived experience as a Black Muslim, she understands firsthand the interplay of intersectionality's in one's life that place marginalized individuals in challenging situations. Having worked and volunteered with Muslim communities and individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures for over four years, she is aware of some of the unique challenges that Muslims face in their everyday lives. This has also allowed her to realize that everyone has their own worldviews that are shaped by their lived experiences, making them experts on their own lives. Her aim is to provide a supportive and non-judgemental environment that seeks to highlight each individual's strengths to help them achieve their goals. Sarah provides services in English, German, and Harari (Ethiopian language) Hobbies: Baking, travelling and exploring nature.
